Question 1

How is Knockout different from other pest control companies when it comes to wood damage?

Accepted Answer

Many pest control companies only spray chemicals and leave you with damaged lumber, forcing you to find and hire an independent general contractor. Knockout operates licensed in-house repair crews. We eradicate the termite infestation and rebuild damaged fascia boards, rafter tails, eaves, patio posts, and framing directly under a single warranty.

Question 2

Do I always have to tent my house for drywood termites?

Accepted Answer

Not always. It depends on what the inspection finds. When drywood termites are spread through the house, fumigation is usually the right call. Smaller infestations in areas we can reach can often be handled with heat or a localized borate treatment. We recommend what fits your home after the inspection.

Question 3

What is the difference between Section 1 and Section 2 items on an Escrow WDO report?

Accepted Answer

Section 1 items denote active infestations or visible wood decay (such as active drywood termites, subterranean mud tubes, or fungal rot) that require immediate remediation before lenders fund the loan. Section 2 items represent conditions conducive to future infestations (like earth-to-wood contact or plumbing leaks) that should be corrected preventatively.

Question 4

How quickly can Knockout deliver an official California WDO real estate clearance?

Accepted Answer

We provide priority dispatch for realtors, buyers, and lenders across Temecula, Fallbrook, Oceanside, and surrounding areas. Written California Structural Pest Control Board reports are delivered within 24 hours of inspection completion, with expedited in-house Section 1 repair bids attached.

Question 5

Are your pest control treatments safe for our children and pets?

Accepted Answer

Your tech will tell you how to get ready for the visit and how long to keep kids and pets away from treated areas.

Question 6

Why do over-the-counter grocery store sprays fail against Argentine ants?

Accepted Answer

Over-the-counter aerosol sprays are repellent pyrethroids. When you spray worker ants, you trigger "budding"—a defense mechanism where multi-queen Argentine ant colonies panic and divide into multiple separate nests throughout your walls, multiplying the infestation. Knockout uses non-repellent chemistry that workers pass throughout the entire colony to eliminate the queens.

Question 7

Do you give an estimate before the work starts?

Accepted Answer

Yes. After the inspection, you get an estimate with our recommendations and what each one costs. For termite work, the estimate covers what we can see. If more damage turns up once the wood is opened, state rules require us to issue a supplemental report with the added cost.

Question 8

Do you offer same-day emergency pest and termite inspections?

Accepted Answer

Same-day and next-day visits are available. Call us or book online.

Question 9

How can I tell the difference between flying ants and swarming termites?

Accepted Answer

Termite swarmers have straight, bead-like antennae, a uniform thick waist, and four wings that are completely equal in size and twice as long as their bodies. Flying ants have elbowed antennae, a pinched waist with distinct body segments, and shorter forewings that are larger than their hindwings.

Question 10

How do you handle heavy rodent and gopher activity in rural areas like Fallbrook and Bonsall?

Accepted Answer

Rural properties and groves see a lot of roof rats, pocket gophers and ground squirrels. We start with an inspection from the ground, then give you an estimate. Depending on what we find, it can include trapping, sealing entry points and clean-up.
